MEFA Pathway Curriculum: A Lesson Plan Library for Counselors
If you're a counselor using MEFA Pathway to help your students plan for college and career, we have a tool that can provide some assistance for your time together. Our MEFA Pathway Curriculum serves as a detailed guide to help shape your lessons and keep you focused on your teaching goals. You simply need to log in to our counselor platform to get started.
For those new to MEFA Pathway, the website is a comprehensive, free-of-cost, college and career planning web portal open to students in grades 6-12. MEFA Pathway features platforms for students and counselors and offers activities and resources to help students design their postsecondary path as they discover the opportunities ahead.
Our MEFA Pathway Curriculum is a complete resource designed to support counselors as they implement MEFA Pathway into their schools. The resource features lesson plans, divided by grade level, that align with a specific activity found within MEFA Pathway, which in turn creates a specific metric to track student progress. One of four domains categorizes each curriculum lesson: Academic Skills, Social Emotional Learning, College & Career Exploration, and Financial Literacy. Each lesson plan feature vocabulary words, future ready skills, and an estimated duration to complete the lesson.
If you visit the MEFA Pathway counselor resources page, you'll see a sneak peak into the MEFA Pathway Curriculum. The counselor resources page includes one preview lesson per grade level. To access the full curriculum, you'll need to log in to the counselor portal, which is only available to participating MEFA Pathway schools. Once you've logged in, on your Dashboard under the Tools section, you will see a link titled MEFA Pathway Curriculum. The link will open to the full array of lesson plans.
From this new offering, you can create your own custom scope and sequence to support your school's overall implementation of MEFA Pathway. If you would like assistance designing that scope, please reach out to us at k12support@mefa.org. And if you're a new school not yet affiliated with MEFA Pathway, we'd love to talk to you more about this free resource that can help your students plan for college and career.
